Lancaster Living Links

Anyone who lives or works in Lancaster County knows that it’s a truly special place. It offers a satisfying mix of the urban and suburban, rural and sophisticated. From the small towns to Lancaster City, there’s something for everyone.

The people are a big part of what makes Lancaster County so inviting. Many communities resemble close-knit extended families where neighbors care about and look out for one another, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity.

According to the 2000 Census statistics, Lancaster County is one of the largest counties in Pennsylvania. Less than 8% of the county population lives at or below the poverty line - the lowest in the state. The population is also ethnically diverse. Ethnic groups represented in the county include Caucasian, Hispanic, African-American, Asian and Native American.

As the primary caregiver for many people in the county, Lancaster General Health is committed to keeping our community healthy and strong. We are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to make this the one of the healthiest communities in all of Pennsylvania and the entire United States.

Lancaster County has much to offer.  Cultural opportunities abound at the Fulton Opera House, Lancaster Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Music, Lancaster Opera Company, art galleries, dance companies, theatre companies and special events throughout the year.
